Unembedded: Independent Photojournalism in Iraq War

Short documentary based on the 2005 photo book from Chelsea Green. Photography and narration by Ghaith Abdul-Ahad, Kael Alford, Thorne Anderson and Rita Leistner. While the vast majority of reporters worked while "embedded" with US military, these four photojournalists documented the bombardment, invasion and occupation of Iraq independently, telling a story that was not found in the mainstream press.
